Biggest pro: you're right on the beach! A beautiful beach. They also have a great kids playground, and massive arcade that was legit. If the water park had been open, that would've really been awesome....
Customer service was hit or miss, some was awesome and some wasn't. The spots have pretty decent size cement pads.
The store could definitely use expansion on groceries as well.
We're enjoying Christmas at the beach this year. Ocean Lakes is a great place to be. Near lots of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. There is not that many people here this time of year, which is a bonus for us. There is plenty of beach front to enjoy. We run on the beach in the morning and walk on the beach after dinner. They have an arcade with mini golf, a swimming pool park that includes an indoor swimming pool, a convenient store, laundromat, a quick food eatery serving pizza and ice cream. You can rent a beach house or bring your RV.
We love this campground. It's great for all ages. We have a very large family from ages 2-60 and everyone has a blast! Our best memories is playing hide and go seek with the golf carts. The campground is huge so we all go for an afternoon ride. Can't wait for next time!
Probably would stay there again when the water park was open, and we had one of the grassier spots.
We had a blast here. Bath houses are amazingly clean and nice, of course there's little privacy, campsites are close together, but it's not a quiet tucked away little mountain place. It's a big, fun, social beach place, and we met fun people and had a great time.
Cons: Not very much grass at all. I get it, you're on the ocean, but I did see some spots that had a lot more grass, and when I called to reserve they didn't seem to know which ones would be grassy. But most on them really were just dirt and sand, which doesn't work well with dogs . And there was SO MUCH LITER. And cigarette butts. Just too much trash on the sites. But they did come and clean ours up ( a little) after mentioning .
We stayed in a pop-up camper on a site with a concrete pad. Some sites also have trees, next time we'll try to get one, the sun was hot coming up in the morning.
Good place to go with the family for vacation. Fun to drive golf carts around with kids. Fourth of July is really fun here, there are many events for children and adults. Home away from home to most people. Everyone here is very friendly and nice.
The nature center is a nice thought but takes about 10 minutes total...
Their snack bar needs expanded, healthier options. I would've ate there more if they had that . They should make it more like a full café then just burgers and ice cream and pizza.
I think being here in the off season may alter my view on some things but they could help counter that. However prices weren't terribly high for the site which is probably why...
You really need a golf cart here, the place is huge! They rent them if you don't have one. Everything you need is on the property, a grocery/general store, laundry, snack bar, and lots of activities and things to do.
