We have been camping at Pirateland for at least 15 years. We love it! It is neat and clean and the staff is wonderful. The gentlemen at the gate are so friendly and loaded with information. A few years back we had trouble with the brakes on our truck -- we needed a good mechanic. One of the gentlemen highly recommended a mechanic local there to Surfside. We got great service at a reasonable price.
We loved it. The staff was friendly and we were close to the beach. I recommend renting a golf cart but you have to have it back on site by 11 pm each night.
This place was OK. Was scheduled to be here for a week and ended up leaving a few days early. The food was great and the staff was good. A huge downfall is that The campsites in the inland area have absolutely no space and very congested. Very difficult to park your camper without the help of neighbors. Definitely not enough room to park if you have a large truck or vehicle. Also when trying to drive a golf cart or vehicle, pedestrians do not move out of the way - ever. You can definitely tell the age of the park, but they do try to cater to all age groups. Probably will choose to go back to Ocean Lakes.
My boys and I stayed a week with my parents, who are staying for two weeks. I loved our site. It was under a tree next to a pond. The golf cart made getting around very easy. We talked to a lady who had been coming every summer to that same campground since she was a child. The other campgrounds down at the beach do not have as big of campsites or covers over the picnic table. It made a very memorable vacation for my boys and I.

WE HAD AN OCEANFRONT SITE AND IT WAS GREAT! THE GRANDKIDS LOVED THE POOL AND BEACH. IT WAS DOG FRIENDLY AND THAT WAS IMPORTANT FOR US. WE ACTUALLY BOOKED TEN DAYS FOR NEXT YEAR BEFORE WE LEFT. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
