Does have copperheads. Actually saw one in the middle of the road someone had killed. They do warn you to carry flashlights, and no open-toed shoes.
There is a quite a walk to the beach if you are a lazy type, otherwise, it's good exercise.
Love this state park, for a smaller park. Its very clean with multiple trash cans and restrooms. Staff are nice and prices cheap! They offer military discounts!#
It's a lovely place to when all the city life is to loud. Take a walk. Explore the beach in totally different way ☺
Beach is not too crowded.
The 10 pm park close time does not apply during summer months, for those wanting to stay out late.
The wait time to get in on Saturdays is 1 hour or longer. A second pass-through lane for those already staying there would be nice, but there are no plans for one.
6 am wakeups from the airport, if you like to sleep late.
Hard to get reservations sometimes.
Staff is excellent, although slow at the admissions shack.
Fire pits on all sites.
Awesome place vacation. We have the best time every time we come for a visit.
The place is nice, but they are ruling my vacation every time. Yesterday I received 5 different verbal warnings - 2 for my dog and 3 for my beach umbrella!! Seriously?! And none of those have been deserved! Most of the times I've been on NC beaches with the same dog and umbrella and I've never received any kind of warning! Is there something wrong with me or those guys needs some real criminals to deserve their salaries?!
Small bathhouses, but cleaned regularly, and has hot water.
