Went here at 6pm on a Tuesday evening. First you seat yourself and the place is very small. My son wanted steamed oysters on the half shell. Our waitress advised they had raw oysters in the half shell but the only steamed oysters you had to shuck. So we purchased a dozen and shucked. We ordered our meal, husband ordered a barnacle bill hamburger and when it came it was overcooked and hard as a rock and the French fries were very greasy. My daughter ordered the kids meal corn dog bites. The menu said it came served on a Frisbee. When she got it she got one big corn dog, greasy french fries and it was in a basket. I ask about the Frisbee and the waitress said they were out. Why not tell the child that when she ordered. I got surf and land (chicken tenders and shrimp). The 4 chicken tenders were from a bag but we're good, the 5 small fried shrimp had a box of salt of them and could not eat, the french fries were greasy. When we got the bill I could not believe my eyes one hamburger plain, 4 chicken tenders/5 small fried shrimp, corn dog and a dozen oysters were $72.50. I thought this was to much for the quantity and quality of food. We will not go back when we visit myrtle beach again. Before we left I went to the bathroom and one of the waitress was standing in kitchen and pulling her long hair up in a ponytail. This should not be done in the kitchen and then not wash your hands. Bathroom floor very dirty. Terrible place.
My family and I live in Myrtle Beach and this is usually our spot to eat (we come here several times a season, the manager even stated that she recognized us). HOWEVER, we came in tonight with a visitor from out of town (5 total) and just about everything had something wrong with it. We ordered the Don's special pitcher with no coconut (it showed up with coconut). Our oyster salad had bad oysters on it. The replacement appetizer of seafood nachos had fantastic, warm shrimp but ice cold cheese. My son's burger and mine both had cold, hard buns and no flavor. Our friend's clams came with cold, solidified butter. The fries were cold and soggy on every plate. This however, is not why I am writing this review. I am writing because when we calmly explained all of this to the manager she told us "our cooks said everything went out hot", "the bartender says there was no coconut in your drink" and my personal favorite "the clam butter is supposed to be cold, that's just how we serve it". Now I consider myself reasonable and even had everyone at the table try everything anyone complained about just to be sure. We ate almost nothing. The manager took the appetizer and salad off and took 10% off the bill but refused to do anything about the burgers that were barely touched. She even told me "I took 10% off your bill so I basically did give it to you free." We ended up paying $70 for a meal that was hardly touched. When specifically asked about these she at first tryed to tell me that I didn't even have a burger and then changed it to she "couldn't take anything else off because she would get in trouble." What kind of manager refuses to offer a replacement and still makes you pay for food that you couldn't even eat? What kind of manager calls her customers liars when she admittedly sees us in there all the time and we have never complained about anything before? We will never be returning as the management is terrible.
My husband and I came here after googling an oyster bar. When we got there, there were only 3 parties sitting outside and one on the inside. We decided to sit outside and it took a while for the waitress to come so a waiter asked had we been helped, we said no so he went to get our waitress. When she came to take our order, my husband ordered steamed shrimp & steamed oysters for both of us, I added a bowl of clam, crab and shrimp soup along with a glass of water. The food took a while to come which wouldn't have been a problem but it wasn't hot at all!!! How does steam food come out with no steam coming from it at all? After about half of the food was gone I had to ask another waiter to bring my water because my waitress NEVER brought it out! Then she came out to help another table and stop by and said is everything ok? I asked, did you forget my soup...her response was no I didn't they had to make some fresh soup. Ok, if that was the case, why wasn't I told prior to me asking? So she finally brings the soup and it's a bowl full of potatoes that taste like can soup! I wasn't even going to waste any time complaining but my husband stopped our waitress for me to tell her. Her response to the soup was, well it's like that everyday. Really? I don't eat there every day & after tonight I'll never go back.
Peel and eat shrimp was amazing. We got the seafood platter and the fish and scallops were very good. Fried pickles were not great.
We went around lunchtime in late November and had a great experience. The bloody marys were made well and tasty. We ordered the she-crab soup which was a wonderful light and buttery take on the crab bisque that Delawareans are used to. Also got fried catfish fingers that were delicious and cooked perfectly. Will definitely come back.
