The site was and still is deceitful. It looks good online but they never showed a picture of the property's exterior directly. When I got there, the registration office was the nicest part about it. I was horrified to know I spent my money on a place that looked like this. The building looked more like an eighties motel than a resort. If you, like myself like to visit different resorts around the grand strand...do not visit this place. Just drive by.
The office employees can be nice but rude at the same time. The resort in general was pretty dirty. The pools were clean they had lots of pools for the one resort. With individual houses and many hotels. Price is really good for off season. About 50 for ocean front and 40 for other rooms. (THIS IS ONLY OFF SEASON)
Love this place! We have stayed in two of the buildings, had nice, comfy rooms and enjoyed delicious breakfasts. We liked all the pools and lazy river so much!! And the arcade. My family and I plan to stay there again soon, we had a lot of fun. A good family resort.
I booked a reservation with Sea Mist 3 weeks in advance. On arrival I realized the property is sprawling. While trying to locate the front office, my family and I noticed several guests outside smoking and it sort of seemed more like a residence than a resort property. We thought maybe it would be fine if we were in a different building. When we got inside, the registration office was clean, but I didn't have a great feeling about it. I asked if it would be OK if I looked at the room first. The receptionist was very nice and accommodating she took my license and gave me a map and key. We were easily able to locate the Spray building and went inside. It looked nice from the parking lot and sat right on the beach. On entering, it became very obvious that the property is not getting the attention it requires. It smelled strongly of mildew, as I'm sure many properties on water struggle with. The stairs seemed dated and you could see the mold on the carpeting. The room was a 2 room jacuzzi suite. I'm not sure what I expected, but that room was not it. The bed was against the door. There was room to walk around the other side of the bed, but not much more. The next room had a jacuzzi and sitting area. It was tiny with a view of the parking lot. The mirror over the jacuzzi was smeared from where someone tried to clean it with something other than glass cleaner, but only as high as they could reach. While the room was clean, it also has been neglected. It needed paint, structural repairs and the carpeting needs replacing throughout the building. I had a feeling my asthmatic child would not sleep well there. I was concerned that mold had been painted over and not treated. I returned the key to the office and the staff could not have been more amazing. This place has the potential to be an awesome experience and it was priced very reasonably. Had my husband and I been traveling alone, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. We would have stayed and made do. I hope the owners will invest more in upkeep instead of acquiring more buildings.
Nothing wrong with the establishment except the location, so only 4 star. "Myrtle Beach" I used to stay here every year, sometimes 2 or 3 times a year. But the town ran me away. I'm a Harley owner. The last visit was the first time in years that I stayed and a confirmation that I will just drive through if the bypass is blocked. I figure my $$$ does not make or brake them (the town) anyway. So if you go the Sea Mist is a great place for all. Family friendly. Reasonable rates.
